The Oviedo High School Color Guard is an award winning, full year program offered at OHS. This program includes both a marching season (with the Oviedo High School Marching Band) and a winter season (ensemble competitions). Auditioning for the full year program requires commitment at all rehearsals and perfomances from each potential member.
Once selected, members are enrolled in either Eurythmics 1, 2, 3, or 4, based on years in the program. The group meets as a class daily. Students receive specialized instruction on flag, rifle, and sabre, as well as dance. All members are part of the Marching Lions Band and travel to all performances which include football games, parades, evaluations and competitions.
Once marching season has ended, auditions for winter season begin. Oviedo Color Guard Staff determine placement of potential members in either Scholastic Open (Varsity) or Scholastic AA (JV). Both groups perform in the Florida Federation of Colorguard Circuits events. Scholastic Open also performs in Winter Guard International events.
